Results of the 3rd Convention of the European Federalist Party

The European Federalist Party successfully held its 3rd European Federal Convention in Brussels this past weekend (November 9th and 10th) with the theme: “Bridging the gap between civil society and European politics”. Around 200 participants from all over Europe attended the two-day event at the Press Club Brussels, which received the high patronage of the European Parliament.

Clik here to view.On Saturday 9th the conference hosted two debates with high level speakers including members of the European Parliament, representatives from NGOs and businesses from around Europe. The first part focused on the key challenges that Europe is facing today, including foreign policy, transparency of European decision-making, economic stability, and welfare and quality of life. In turn, the second panel focused on the difficulties and strategies of communicating the idea of Europe and engaging Europeans. It was also the opportunity for the panellists to present the wide array of initiatives and projects that they have been running over recent months, including art exhibits, visual design projects, online platforms and European Citizens’ Initiatives. Clik here to view.On Sunday 10th the Convention voted and adopted the political programme that will be defended by the candidates running with the EFP at the 2014 European Parliament Elections. The final programme can be accessed here.
The message of co-Presidents Pietro De Matteis and Yves Gernigon emphasized “This is the beginning of a new era in European politics. Now the European Federalist Party is ready to face the rising nationalist forces thanks to a sound political programme that we will defend ahead of the next European elections! All pro-Europeans and federalists should now join us to change Europe!”.
